McClusky's Theory of Margin

Mouse over the letters above to reveal their meaning.

Margin
The margin individuals have to deal with in life can be determined by the load they have in their lives in contrast with the power they have to handle the load.

If people have more load than power, than they do not have the ability to take on any new tasks and quite possibly they do not have the power to deal with the tasks they already have.

Load
Load is contributed to by both external and internal factors. External factors include family obligations, career expectations, and socio economic status. Internal factors include self-concept goals individuals may have for themselves, and personal expectations.
